Giti’s Journey to Become the Most Preferred Competition Race Tire in Thailand

Giti’s Journey to Become the Most Preferred Competition Race Tire in Thailand

Giti has always placed high priority in tire development and an even higher priority in ensuring that these developments are put through their paces, testing extensively using top-of-the-line equipment indoors. However, going a step further, Giti believes in putting their tires to the test in the real world, with real drivers and real environmental conditions. “It is our opinion that there is no better testing ground than that of racing events” commented Mr Mark Zhu, Motorsport Manager at Giti Tire’s R&D Centre. “These events are the culmination of talented driving, the latest automotive technology and the most extreme of driving conditions, providing valuable quantitative and qualitative stress-testing data that then contributes towards our ability to create an even better line of products.”

Regularly participating in races and rallies across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, China and Indonesia, Giti’s intent was to localise its tests, exposing its products to different regional and seasonal conditions. With the recent rise in popularity of motorsport events in the ASEAN region, Giti takes the opportunity to further localise its testing in up-and-coming countries.

Starting at the Idemitsu Super Endurance Southeast Asia Trophy in December 2023, this marked Giti’s entry into the motorsport scene in Thailand. Becoming the official race tire, Giti was able to support and witness the racing prowess of Toyota and their carbon-neutral racing initiative.

Going from strength to strength, Giti went on to become the official race tire for the RAAT Thailand Endurance Race and PT Maxnitron Racing Series on top of the Idemitsu Super Turbo Series in 2024.

In December 2024 specifically, Giti had the unique opportunity to be the official race tire for Asia’s first 25-hour circuit race, the Idemitsu Super Endurance 25-hour race. Held at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit, the race was an exciting one, with high octane action from flag off to final checkered flag.

“Giti has not shifted focus, but expanded its capabilities to power the various races around the world” shared Ms Shiroo Chia, Deputy General Manager for Rest of World Marketing. “These races play a vital role in not only our developmental plans, but in our market penetration plans as well, as locals can witness, and even experience, first-hand the quality and performance that Giti tires have.”

“These highly anticipated races receive regional acclaim and significantly boost local brand presence for Giti,” added Mr Elson Lee, Country Manager for Giti in Thailand. “With local media and online coverage of the event, and the social media influences of local and regional racers, Giti has seen an increase in awareness and interest in our tires in Thailand and the region.”

With Thailand as the beginning, Giti has started to focus on expanding its motorsports presence in the region and continues to work with our engineers, testers, key manufacturing partners, race organisers and racing teams to improve and expand its offerings to drivers all around the world.
